NECTAR Information Update - A new service for "Telematics Engineering"
The NECTAR project, which is funded within the "Telematics Engineering" sector of the Community's Telematics Applications programme, has launched a new "Telematics Engineering" information service - The NECTAR Information Update - on the World Wide Web. The service provides an interactive, fully searchable Web site providing up-to-date information on the latest developments regarding methods, techniques and tools for telematics engineering, including a "News" service, an events calendar, selected meeting reports, a list of publications of interest to developers of telematics applications and research engineers, and highlights of telematics engineering projects which have been completed or are currently underway. The NECTAR Web site is a key element in the dissemination of the findings of EU-funded projects in the telematics engineering sector. The site offers an electronic repository of results (deliverables) of telematics engineering projects, including related information from both the Telematics Applications programme and from other EU programmes (eg. ESPRIT and ACTS). Moreover, thanks to a special alert service, users can be personally informed of updates in their specific areas of interest. In addition to providing an unparalleled source of information on engineering practice relating to distributed systems and teleservices of general interest, run by public or private organizations (including technical, regulatory, legal, ethical and socio-economic issues), the site offers discussion groups and a feedback forum which allow users to communicate interactively with the NECTAR Editorial Board - an independent panel of 35 experts, from around Europe, representing the industrial and academic sectors and user organizations and managed by Prof. David W. Barron from the University of Southampton, Department of Electronics and Computer Science (UK).
