Fundamental Research

The European Research Council (ERC), set up by the European Union in 2007, is a European funding organisation dedicated to advancing cutting-edge scientific research. It funds creative researchers of any nationality and age to run innovative projects based across Europe.

The ERC's mission is to support the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to encourage investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, based on scientific excellence.
