Global Marketplace for SMEs - Electronic commerce

The first annual conference of the G7 Information Society pilot project on a "Global Marketplace for SMEs", on the theme of Electronic Commerce, will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 7 to 9 April 1997. The organization of the event is coordinated by the European Commission on behalf of the G7 countries, in cooperation with the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and the City of Bonn/Telebonn.

The Global Marketplace conference will address the practical issues of doing business electronically, and is aimed at SMEs, businesses and policy-makers with an interest in electronic commerce.

The three main themes of the conference are:

- Electronic commerce for SMEs in the Information Society;
- Building the global marketplace;
- Electronic commerce at work.

An "electronic marketplace" exhibition will enable participants to get hands-on experience with electronic commerce applications currently available on the market.
