This year's general conference and exhibition of the International Federation of Libraries Associations (IFLA) will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 31 August to 5 September 1997. The activities of the "Telematics for Libraries" sector of the Community's Telematics Applications programme will be widely exposed at this major event which brings together several thousands of people from all over the world.

A wide range of projects supported by the EU in this sector will be either demonstrated or presented at a stand which the Telematics Applications programme is sharing with the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities (Stand C1/031-034). A CD-Rom containing most of the documentation and information on the work carried out by the sector since 1990 will also be distributed at the stand. This is intended to provide an overview of the R&D results emerging from the "Libraries" projects funded.

In addition, a workshop on the "Telematics for Libraries" sector will be held on 4 September 1997. This workshop, organized by the IFLA section for "Library Theory and Research", will provide a general overview of the activities supported by the EU in this sector and an opportunity for discussion with representatives from the Commission.
