Basin scale WEFE nexus evidence including solutions (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable also reports the task 5.4. It will update the evidence obtained and reported in D5.6 including the outcomes of the simulation of the solutions defined in WP7. Mirroring the report in D5.4, it will use the SAF to produce results that are easily comparable and to assess the effect of the selected solutions in the nexus. A quantitative assessment of the impacts of different policies and intervention options will also be produced to feed back the WP6 (Dialogues) and WP7 (Solutions) for further refinement of the interventions. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, scientists working on basin-scale WEFE modelling, and regional and local WEFE stakeholders. It will be used in Tasks 6.1 and 6.2.

This deliverable also reports the task 5.2. It will update the evidence obtained and reported in D5.2 including the outcomes of the simulation of the solutions defined in WP7. This deliverable will also result from tasks 6.1 and 6.2. It will include the main methods, outcomes and minutes of the second round of Dialogues for the case studies at the basin and local level. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, and stakeholders from the case studies. It will be used in tasks 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5.

Report on the Nexus Dialogues for the assessment and validation of multi-level solutions for each case study basin (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will result from tasks 6.1 and 6.2. It will include the main methods, outcomes and minutes of the third round of Dialogues for the case studies at the basin and local level. In this round of dialogues, multi-level solutions introduced in the previous rounds of Dialogues are expected to be further discussed and validated. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, and stakeholders from the case studies. It will be used in tasks 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5.

This deliverable also derives from task 7.3. It will update the preliminary identification of technical and operational solutions and will evaluate and characterize the solutions in terms of technical and economic efficiency, environmental sustainability, and cost. Selected measures for each case will be simulated using the Model Toolbox and assessed using the indicators of the GoNEXUS SEF and SAF. Selected measures will also be validated through the third round of Nexus Dialogues (D6.4). The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, and regional, national, EU and international stakeholders and policymakers (in EU e.g. Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It will be a final outcome of GoNEXUS, being its results used in the project afterlife.

Indicators and Sustainability Assessment Framework (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will be the main outcome of task 5.1. It will collect and describe the indicators contained in the Sustainability Assessment Framework (SAF). Existing indicators will be adjusted and new ones formulated as needed, reflecting the drivers and scenarios developed in WP2, and the model outcomes available from WP3 and 4. The overall framework will also be adjusted to the situations and priority issues identified in the case studies. The SAF will provide a basis for the assessment of how successful solutions are with respect to the criteria and expectations of the stakeholders. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, and stakeholders and decision-makers interested in developing WEFE indicators. Its results will be used in tasks 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 and 8.3.

This deliverable will be the initial outcome of tasks 81 and 82 It will update expand and detail sections 221 and 225 of the Description of Action including description of target audiences existing and planned contacts with key stakeholder stakeholder contact and engagement protocols planned communication and dissemination activities existing communication means from the partners that will be used during the project and new communications means that will be developed for GoNEXUS The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners It will be used in tasks 81 and 82

This deliverable will be an output of task 7.2. It will consist of a Policy Brief on how the policy solutions identified in D7.2 could contribute towards improving the coordination and integration of sectoral resource policies and maximizing mutually beneficial outcomes. It will be written in non-technical language for their dissemination through the communication and dissemination channels of GoNEXUS. The target audiences are regional, national and international stakeholders and policymakers, as well as EU bodies dealing with water, energy, agriculture and ecosystem policies (e.g. Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). This deliverable will be used in tasks 8.1 and 8.2.

This deliverable will be the main deliverable result of task 5.3. It will provide a diagnosis of the WEFE nexus at the EU for the baseline scenario (current climate and policy) using the SAF and other quantitative methods to characterize the WEFE nexus from a multi-attribute perspective, revealing trade-offs and synergies existing in the baseline EU-scale scenario. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, scientists working on EU-scale WEFE modelling, and EU bodies related to Water, Energy, Food and Environment (for the EU: Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It will also be relevant for WEFE EU directives such as the Water Framework Directive, the Common Agricultural Policy, the Energy Directive and the EU Green Deal. It will be used in Task 6.3.

Policy brief of recommendations on how a nexus approach could strength the EU role and the EU water diplomacy (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will be an output of task 6.4. It will consist of one Policy Brief with recommendations on how a nexus approach could strength the EU role and the EU water diplomacy. It will be written in non-technical language for their dissemination through the communication and dissemination channels of GoNEXUS. The target audiences are the EU bodies dealing with international issues and diplomacy, such as Directorate-General on International Partnership, Environment and Climate Action, as well as other international bodies related to the same topics. This deliverable will be used in tasks 8.1 and 8.2.

This deliverable is linked to tasks 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4. It will report about the different WEFE models developed in the 6 case studies, including the description of the steps required for developing the models and reporting on the model performance. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on basin-scale and local WEFE modelling, and scientists working on basin-scale and local WEFE modelling. Its results will be used in task 5.4.

This deliverable also derives from task 7.4. It will update the risk hedging solutions co-designed and reported in D7.6 and will present the evaluation of these solutions based on the evidence provided by the simulation through the Model Toolbox and the validation through the third round of Nexus Dialogues (D6.4). The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, and regional, national, EU and international stakeholders and policymakers (in EU e.g. Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It will be a final outcome of GoNEXUS, being its results used in the project afterlife.

This deliverable will be the main deliverable result of task 3.1. It will describe the improvements and changes made to the individual thematic models that together define the different components of the WEFE nexus at global and continental scales, including water (PCR-GLOBWB, LISFLOOD-EPIC), energy (PRIMES, PROMETHEUS), agri-food (CAPRI, LISFLOOD-EPIC), and ecosystems (GLOBIO). Improvements and changes aim to set up the models for additional scales and to make the models suitable for including the WEFE interactions. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on large-scale WEFE modelling, scientists working on large-scale WEFE modelling, and EU bodies currently using these models (Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It will be used in Task 3.2.

This deliverable is the outcome of task 6.3. It will describe the common approach designed to engage users, policy makers, national representatives and other relevant stakeholders in the case studies at the global and EU scales. Partners involved in the global and EU level Dialogues will use this document as a guidance for designing the Nexus Dialogues. The document will also describe the development of said Dialogues and will report their outcomes, including the identified WEFE issues, gap identification and potential alliances for the EU and global context. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, scientists working on the development of Nexus Dialogues at the global and continental scale, as well as international and EU stakeholders. Its results will be used in tasks 6.3, 6.4, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5.

This deliverable reports the task 5.2. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on large-scale WEFE modelling, scientists working on large-scale WEFE modelling, and global and continental (including the EU) stakeholders and decision-makers. In particular, it coulde be relevant to the EU Water Framework Directive, EU Common Agricultural Policy and EU Energy Directive, as well as the EU Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment. It will be used in Tasks 3.1, 3.2, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 5.2 and 6.3.

This deliverable reports the task 5.4. This deliverable collects outputs from tasks 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4. It will produce fact sheets collecting the diagnosis produced in these tasks, including the evaluation of the current status of the NEXUS for the different scales and case studies, and the main challenges and most promising solutions obtained in each case. The target audiences are the WEFE stakeholders and policy-makers for the case studies, as well as the general public. It will be used in communication and outreach activities of GoNEXUS.

Policy Briefs on solutions for improving the WEFE nexus (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable takes knowledge from tasks 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5. It will provide Policy Briefs on the solutions defined for achieving an efficient joint management of the WEFE nexus per case study, and an additional policy brief with a broad catalogue of solutions that could be applied to different contexts and challenges with lessons learnt from the project. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, regional, national, EU and international stakeholders and policymakers (in EU e.g. Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment), and the general public. It will be a final outcome of GoNEXUS, being its results used in the project afterlife, being shared through tasks 8.1 and 8.3.

This deliverable will collect the results of task 4.5. It will describe the design and development of novel behavioural models and will illustrate the validation protocols adopted by interaction with the stakeholders and behavioral data collection. The report will summarise the findings of task 4.6 and report about the different feedbacks identified from the local to the global scale in terms of both model components and policies. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on large-scale WEFE modelling, and scientists working on large-scale WEFE modelling. It will be used in Tasks 5.2 and 5.3.

This deliverable will be the main deliverable result of task 2.3, and the deliverable result of the part of task 2.1 referring to river basin and local scenarios. Following the same structure as D2.1, it will describe the process followed to generate them, including the data and information sources, data acquisition protocols, and data post-processing stages, as well as a summary of the information and narratives shown by them. Each part of it will be divided by case study. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on basin-scale and local WEFE modelling, scientists working on basin-scale and local WEFE modelling, and regional and local WEFE stakeholders and decision-makers. It will be used in Tasks 2.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 and 5.2.

Large-scale interconnected WEFE model output resulting in scenarios with large-scale WEFE policies and interventions (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will report the results obtained in task 3.4. It will collect the results obtained from the simulation runs made with the interconnected global and continental-scale models under the policy scenarios (WP2) and solutions (WP7). The document will describe, show and compare the main results obtained by the different scenarios and solutions simulated using the global Model Toolbox. Additional data may be annexed to the main document or published in online repositories. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on large-scale WEFE modelling, scientists working on large-scale WEFE modelling, and EU bodies currently using these models (Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It is a final outcome of GoNEXUS, being its outputs employed in the project afterlife, although the results of this deliverable, obtained before the release of the deliverable, will be used in tasks 3.5, 5.2 and 5.3.

This deliverable will be the final deliverable outcome of tasks 8.1 and 8.2. It will update D8.1, including a list of all the communication and dissemination activities performed and explaining the deviations and modifications of the initial plan. This deliverable is a final outcome of GoNEXUS, and it will be used in the project afterlife.

This deliverable will describe the results of task 3.3. It will describe the interlinkages created between the global, regional and basin-scale models in order to use the outputs of the global and continental-scale WEFE models as boundary conditions for the basin-scale models. Additionally, this deliverable will describe the findings that may result from confronting global and continental-scale results against basin-scale data and model results to assess the reliability of the global WEFE models. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on river basin WEFE modelling, and scientists working on river basin WEFE modelling. It will be used in Task 4.3

This deliverable functions as a synthesis of WP6 and extracts knowledge from tasks 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4. It will provide guidelines and recommendations for the development and application of multiscale Nexus Dialogues to improve the management of the WEFE nexus. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, stakeholders performing nexus dialogues and EU bodies related to WEFE topics (such as Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). It will be a final outcome of GoNEXUS, whose results will be used in the project afterlife, although the results of this deliverable, obtained before the release of the deliverable, will be used in tasks 8.1 and 8.3.

2 Policy Briefs on adopting a nexus approach in water diplomacy (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will be the output of task 6.4. It will consist of two Policy Briefs covering the WEFE challenges, dialogues and solutions from the EU perspective in international water issues. The Policy Briefs will be written in non-technical language for their dissemination through the communication and dissemination channels of GoNEXUS. The target audiences are the EU bodies dealing with international issues and diplomacy, such as Directorate-General on International Partnership, Environment and Climate Action, as well as other international bodies related to the same topics. This deliverable will be used in tasks 8.1 and 8.2.

Global and continental scale interconnected WEFE model setup and baseline scenario (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable will be the main deliverable result of task 3.2. It will report the new interconnections made between the individual global models for the simulations of the different elements of the WEFE, including interconnections between Water (PCR-GLOBWB, LISFLOOD-EPIC), Energy (PRIMES, PROMETHEUS), Food (CAPRI) and Ecosystems (GLOBIO), and the global macro-economic model (GEM-E3). This deliverable will collect the new protocols and will present the results of the coupled baseline scenario, which will be used as a baseline case for the solutions run in task 3.4. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, in particular those working on large-scale WEFE modelling, scientists working on large-scale WEFE modelling, and EU bodies currently using these models (Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development, Climate Action, Energy, and Environment). This first version of the Data Management Plan will be the first deliverable of task 14 It will follow the guidelines on Data Management of the HORIZON 2020 Online Manual describing the provisions made to ensure that GoNEXUS datasets will be FAIR findable accessible interoperable and reproducible The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners It will be used in any task implying the collection generation treatment and storage of datasets

This will be the updated version of D1.1, and the final deliverable result of task 1.4. It will update the initial version, including a list of all the datasets generated and how they are FAIR. It will contrast the data projections of the first version, adding new data not foreseen before, changes in consortium policies (e.g. new innovation potential, decision to file for a patent), and changes in consortium composition and external factors (e.g. new consortium members joining or old members leaving). The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners and any scientist interested in using the datasets generated by GoNEXUS. This deliverable is a final outcome of GoNEXUS, and it will be used in the project afterlife.

This deliverable is the outcome of tasks 6.1 and 6.2. It will consist in a set of six short videos that will explain the multilevel nexus issues in the different basin-scale case studies and the participatory process of the project in non-technical language and with a focus on the first round of the Dialogues. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, stakeholders from the case studies, and the general public. It will be used in task 6.1 and 6.2 as well as in communication activites task 8.1 and trainings task 8.3 to raise awareness and common understandign on nexus issues in the case studies.

This deliverable will be an outcome of task 81 It will consist of the project webpage which will follow the guidelines described in sections 221 and 225 of the Description of Action as well as all the communication materials and templates for the development of the communication activities indicated in section 225 The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners It will be used in tasks 81 and 82

MOOC course: materials and summary of activities (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

This deliverable is also an output of task 8.3. The MOOC course will take place online and will target a broader audience than the summer course. The course will have an approximate duration of 6 weeks, with a weekly effort of 5-6 hours. A report with an updated version of the course materials, a summary of activities, number of participants and other relevant data will be produced after the course completion. The target audiences are the GoNEXUS partners, the attendants to the MOOC performed in GoNEXUS, any potential attendant to future MOOCs, and the general public. It will be a final outcome of GoNEXUS, being its results used in the project afterlife, although a preliminary version of them will be used in task 8.3.
