Economic and Technological Intelligence in the field of Surface Technologies (ECTIST)

Cel

Surface technology ¡s a cross- sectional high-tech field of science and plays an important role in many

industrial sectors. Especially SMEs have the know how to take this chance to assure jobs and

promote the potential of surface technologies.

The ECTIST project aims on stimulating the participation of SMEs within the field of 'surface

technology' in ED research programmes leading to a more innovation-friendly environment for

business. This will be done by identifying and establishing 'surface technology clusters' in the

participating countries. The project will identify relevant topics of already funded European and

national projects and offer services on an European level for projects as well as for new consortia.

There are several steps to reach the aim of this project - the increasing participation of SMEs in the

Sixth Framework Programme:

establishment of thematic clusters to identify national thematic networks and other intermediaries

- thematic investigations on funded FP6 projects and relevant national programmes

- service for partner search for running FP6 projects and the establishment of new consortia

- Presentation and documentation of ECTIST activities in the internet

- identification and contacting of incubators and multipliers in the different sub sectors of surface

technology for dissemination activities.

The ECTIST consortia concentrates on all relevant subjects of research for the target group across

FP6. In addition, the project is in line with other Community policies relevant for innovation and will

work to strengthen the focus on all types of innovation as a continuous effort for the 'surface

technology' SME in Europe, specifically mentioned under the heading "Coherent development of

research and innovation policies".

The partners of the ECTIST project declared the following quantitative aims:

Company audits; 20 per year per partner

- Workshops; One event each partner
