Studying telecommunication services in Europe's regions
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a prior information notice concerning a tender for a survey to monitor the current scope of universal service of telecommunications, and to assess future telecommunications service requirements in the EU's regions. More specifically, the study will survey, collect and analyse current data on service availability and service usage in the regions. The study will attempt to analyse levels of customer and user satisfaction. It will also collect information on affordability in terms of whether consumers use certain telecommunications services in relation to their socio-economic status, and if not, the reasons for this. The study will concentrate on the demand or user side through survey means, and will be targeted on both residential consumers and small businesses (SMEs). An invitation to tender concerning this study is likely to be published in August 1998.
