Paving the way for e-business
Enterprises need to keep up with rapidly changing customer needs. E-business has evolved from a website trend to a key business strategy. Thus, if SMEs are to compete successfully, they need to be open to adopting e-business into the framework of their transactions. One thing that has prevented SMEs from doing this is that they have been unaware of a secure plan to implement. Now, however a novel management methodology has been created to support extended enterprises in their implementation process of e-business strategies in order to enhance their competitiveness in the market. With SME's being one of its main target groups, the e-business road mapping methodology can identify, select and develop strategic alternatives to satisfy service, product and operational needs. Experts have pooled together to design a framework based on the Reference process model (RPM) which can organise and present information for decision-making. The e-business roadmap represents strategic e-business scenarios that an enterprise can have over time. As such, it may increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its strategic planning process and contribute to its sustainable and competitive growth in the future.
