MEAT 21
Subtitled 'New technologies for the 21st century', this brokerage event claims to be a market-driven, 'matchmaking', working conference. Event organisers aim to provide a forum for companies and research organisations throughout Europe to meet and discuss new technologies and business opportunities in the meat sector. It is designed for participants to make contacts and discuss potential research ideas, with the objective of generating RTD projects.
'In the last few years, the meat and poultry sector has been seriously affected by the recent 'mad cow' disease, listeria outbreaks and the dioxin scandal. Food safety has become one of the crucial issues that this sector faces, together with greater demands in terms of food quality, functional food and environmental requirements. There is much need of European cross-border co-operation in RTD projects to meet these challenges', say the event organisers.
The brokerage event includes six workshops which will focus on:
- Food safety and meat quality;
- Development of new processes and meat processing equipment and machinery;
- Environmental aspects;
- Development of new products;
- Treatment and preservation of meat & meat products;
- Consumers' concerns.
