Making the food chain safe, sustainable and ethical
Nearly 600 experts and researchers from 25 countries are gathering in Uppsala, Sweden from 14 to 16 March for a conference on 'Food Chain 2001 - safe, sustainable, ethical'. The meeting, organised by the Swedish Agricultural university, the Ministry of fisheries, the Food agency, the State institution for veterinary medicine and the Swedish Board of agriculture with the support of the Swedish government will focus on food quality and production, animal welfare and the environment. Recent events which have attracted publicity, such as BSE and foot and mouth disease, will also be discussed.
