e-Commerce gets more efficient

e-Commerce has evolved into a fast paced business arena, supported by software that has one goal in mind; to streamline processes and simplify activity. While large conglomerates have the financial means to customize their software requirements, SME suffer from a lack of tools that cater to their specific needs. LAURA is set to change this.

LAURA is a software that brings with it nine various packages. As such, the nine features of LAURA are supportive tools aimed at providing SMEs with the necessary functions that will not only make them more competitive, but simplify business transactions altogether. First of all, there is a content manager tool that generates individual web-pages for each user linked to the LAURA platform. A second tool, the virtual shop, provides a graphical representation of every product hosted on the platform. It also catalogues items thus making them easier to find according to such details as branch and price. The shop also has a multilingual platform. Another valuable tool is found in the tools providing service level agreement (SLA) assistance. For many SME's the specific notary details can be difficult to achieve. The Individual Task Manager tool now provides a solution whereby step-by-step instructions are provided for contractual requirements. Again this is a multilingual feature and a completed SLA can be sent using LAURA platform to all parties in their language preference. LAURA established a number of goals, one of which was to develop a tool that would harmonise business in Europe by assuring a seamless interface or businesses across Europe. LAURA, a virtual organisation taxonomy, provides dynamic support through its development of regional and interregional electronic zones. At its outset, LAURA sought to identify a number of work packages, each of which considered an aspect of modern virtual dynamics. It broke these packages into tasks, for example, listing zones demonstrating principles of best practice, operational/functional requirements and the relevant actors involved. Another such was the assessment of technology and market trends having either a direct or indirect influence on the future formulation of EC virtual zones. A major area of the project will be to assess the value the project will have for SME development. While further development is currently needed, it is expected that the final product will have an enormously broad range of market applicable areas, affecting business for SME's and consequently Europe, across the board.
